I like the factual element of it but having read more retellings of Greek mythology I found it more like essays rather than a book.

The writing is good, some good humour. She is qualified and I trust her knowledge. A bit dry at times. I felt like the book lacked a clear outline or purpose. I took a lot of classic courses in university so it was a nice refresher

It was decent

It’s too bad that this didn’t follow the same formula as Pandora’s Jar, which I wasn’t aware of when I started it. It would be unfair to judge this book by misplaced expectations and I have to admit that it wasn’t a bad book. Some chapters were quite insightful like Athena and the Furies but it wasn’t groundbreaking.
