This was an ode to books and the hope and the universal connection through time and space that books are. It is a remarkable story exceptionally well written and it confirms that Anthony Doerr is one of my favorite writers of all times. At times I had to stop myself and take a breath and just enjoy the moment of submerging myself into the stories that make up this novel. It is going to be one of the very best books I have read this year and ever.

not sure if i can call it hopeful. but a nice reminder of the…humanity of humans, i suppose. manages to stay clear while jumping through timelines and povs.
