Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Tropes: Hate-to-love, age gap, forced proximity, found family
Spice Level: 🔥🔥🔥
Lennox is a fierce, no-nonsense barrel racer with big dreams, and Bishop is the gruff, emotionally shut-down ranch foreman who has no idea what to do with a woman like her. From the jump, their dynamic is pure chaos—in the best way. Growling, eye-rolling, and constant “who put you in charge?” energy flying around Black Springs Ranch.
There were parts I really liked—especially the banter and that cozy, small-town ranch vibe. The age gap (13 years!) is handled pretty well, and the forced proximity definitely gives us some good simmering moments. I also loved the found-family thread running quietly through the background.
But… I never totally bought into their connection. For all the tension and slow-burn, I didn’t fully understand what was keeping them apart. The age gap and Bishop’s loyalty to the ranch were hinted at, but it mostly felt like they were just too different—more oil and water than swoony soulmates. The middle dragged a bit, and I found myself wishing for more depth in their emotional arc beyond the bickering and stolen glances. It was missing a little of that swoony magic that makes a love story memorable.
