I also liked "one of us is lying" a lot and I was scared that the 2nd part would be worse, but it absolutely wasn't.
A really big part of the story was the personal life of the narrators and in the first half the crime-aspect was more in the background. I didn't mind that, though that was something that I didn't expect. And I also have to say that that part was very gripping and absolutely not boring.
Then more or less at 50% of the book the murder happens and from that part on, the crime-aspect was more the main part of the story. Then the book got so tense π¨π¨π¨
And then the plot-twists were such a surprise π± And the last pages... π¨π¨π¨ I would have never expected that π±
Now comes a little spoiler for the romance in the book
That there are now new narrators was at the beginning a little weird (mainly because of Knox and Phoebe, because I didn't know them π ), but when I got to know them, I really really loved them π I also loved, that the old narrators were still side-characters and that you learn, how Bronwyn and Nate's story continued πππ
I can't wait to read the 3rd book and I have to pre-order it right now

There is a subplot of a bomb but only one person is injured and they survive but will have scars. There was also a subplot of a corrupt police officer who framed and blackmailed someone for drugs.markitherainbowreader's review against another edition

But I have to admit that Maeve was a perfect mc and even though I struggled with Phoebe and Knox in the beginning I liked their character development throughout the story. My favourite character turned out to be Luis, which was completely unexpected since I didn't even know he played a role in the sequel.
The mystery was okay but not as thrilling as Simon's ploy in book 1. The ending felt a bit rushed and I think the very last chapter was not as satisfying as it could have been.
Still, I flew through the pages and feel at home in Bayview, despite its dark side and revenge forums. I am looking forward to part 3 this year!
