I FINALLY got around to reading this! Hearing about Ranpo’s backstory and how the detective agency started is done so much better than what was adapted in the anime :) It was a bit strange that certain concepts were introduced to the reader (ex. Abilities/Skills) when the main audience is likely people who have read the manga.

Overall, amazing and (surprisingly) funny read!

the first story is so silly and i love ranpo a lot. fukuzawa building the agency around him to give him a place to belong will never not make me sob.

“At the beginning, I thought you and Dazai were very similar, unable to see the value of your life, hoping for death, hence jumping into a world of violence and fighting. But that’s not the case. That guy is just a child who’s too smart. Just a crying child who’s been left alone in the darkness, a world of nothingness far emptier than the world we can see.”

This has ruined my day.
