This was one of those books that I desperately wanted to like. The language was beautiful and the first chapter sort of captivated me. But the more I read on, the more it felt like the same sentiments over and over. While I liked the author's thematic groupings, going through the same events in his life repeatedly gave me the feeling of "oh yeah I already read about this." Ultimately I got about 4 chapters in and kept reading the same paragraphs over and over when my mind wandered, so I gave up.
