I was super disappointed with this because the plot just didn't flow for me. It was so disconnected, especially from the characters. I felt that the characters and their story were a completely different book from the rest of the plot. Also, this was the first book in this series, but I felt so lost in the world, as if I had accidently picked up the 3rd book in the series. Overall a major let down for me.

adored this book - it had me smiling, giggling out loud, and kicking my feet, things I haven't done while reading in a long time. No notes!

And - finally a book that switched between character's perspectives without making the plot feel choppy or confusing!! That's been such a gripe of mine lately and it was just so refreshing to see an author tell a story from multiple points of view in a way that was purposeful and insightful.

I love this book so much was a great reread! I love the Simon and Baz moments and the book is just a classic for me at this point.

I was disappointed by the writing and the fact that nobody acknowledges the existence of bisexual people. The idea for the plot and the world was good though.

I had to sit on this book for a few days before rating it. It was basically a Drarry fanfic. I wanted to like it more, I might revisit this book and read book 2 but at the same time I'm not sure.

When I first picked up this book I felt like I might accidentally have picked up book 6 or 7 of a series. The author kept referencing all these climatic fights and events and it took me a while before I realized that the story wasn't about all of those events, they were simply background, the story was about the people. And I found myself totally loving the characters. The dense, teenager vanity and pride was perfectly written to be both endearing and believable.

The world and history of magic is unique and well written, with a fleshed out history. The story has just the right amount of twists and hints. I really enjoyed it and recommend it highly!
