JAMIE WHERE DID YOU GO?

It is physically painful for my favorite comic to go from mindblowingly beautiful to simply "okay," but with the cartoon art that's exactly what happened. I mean, I had some SERIOUS emotions after Fandemonium, which is why I've gone to single issues instead of waiting for the volume, but the disappointment is crippling. The consistent art was one of my favorite things about WicDiv, because it was clean, beautiful, and everyone looks the same in every panel.

I might have forgiven the half-baked chapter if Jamie McKelvie had illustrated it. The emotions leftover from Fandemonium were there, but I couldn't get into Baal looking like a pudgy little boy with a thwarted romance, and NO ONE CARES about Cassandra's traitorous camerawoman.

Tomorrow we get an issue about Fucking Tara, and hopefully that art is better. If it is, I'll get the issue, if it's not, then god knows if I'll even buy this volume for just leave it out and wait for Jamie to come back.

I'm gonna go sit in the dark and be heartbroken over this now.

"Love makes fools of us all."

UF.

I hate not having Jaime McKelvie illustrating this arc, because I adore his work and really identify the characters with his portrayal of them. However, this issue was okay in spite of that. It had an appropriately mournful feel, and the ever present sense that we're missing a lot of information drives the desire to read more forward even when my favorite characters no longer can.

Slower than the others, but never ceases to amaze me. I think I got spoiled by reading so much Gillen/McKelvie partnerships right away because...this..this is pure magic.
