Me interesó al inicio por la profesión de Eve. Me atrapó, pero desde el momento que fueron a desenterrar la cabeza me aburrió demasiado.

For some reason i just wasn't as into this book as I wanted to be. I don't know if it was because I was reading it at the beach and it wasn't a very "summery" read or what but I am definitely going to give the second book in the series a chance. I really liked Eve's character and the story behind her character. I also was very interested in the story with the president.

I picked this book up at my local library and saw it’s a huge series…I love a good series!

It’s not my usual type of thriller and I didn’t particularly care for the political turn it took in the middle. Also, I know it’s an older book but the dialogue still felt a little off and too matter of fact for my tastes. It didn’t give me the emotion that I hoped for.

With all that said, the story itself was still really intriguing and it kept me turning the pages until the end. I’ll eventually read the second one but I’m hoping for a little more emotion and character development.

THE FACE OF DECEPTION.

OMG WHAT A GREAT STORY, CHARACTERS AND PLOT!!! YASSS YASSS YASSS!!!!!

I have adored Iris Johansen for awhile now. I am just glad that I am able to find her books on booksale. I don’t even mind looking for them for so long as long as I can find them. I have 6 of her books now and still have 2 more to read.

This book is just great! The settings, the realness, the action, the plot, and the characters! I just think they all compliment each other which make this book great.

This book is the real page turner! It took me 7 hours, one sitting to read it and decide to sleep. It’s just so stimulating! I can’t stop and curiosity will always shoot you after every page!

The story is over the top of it’s greatness, in my opinion. I love Eve Duncan as a forensic sculptor. This book has taught me lessons I have never imagined I can learn especially about Eve’s job. I never thought a job like her even exist and when I knew it does, it definitely fascinates me. It makes me so curious to continue to every page and find out how she works on the bones. I love that the story relates to politics and the dirty side of it. The mess they got to finding the truth. All the people that died and got involve because of the huge mess that involves huge people. I find that everything in this book compliments each other and that makes it exceptional to me.

Let’s talk about Eve Duncan. Her character is the real badass. Her job like I said, engross me. It’s just so rare and distinct. Her perseverance, bravery, passion and wit captivates me. I love her from the moment I knew her job and her character. I knew that her love and passion in finding Bonnie will always be in her heart because of her love for her. Another mother’s love displayed. I love how she manage to push through everything, with all of the pressure and threat, she still made it. Her situation is definitely the most difficult you could imagine in this book but she still made it. Her idea at the end is exceptional. I would have never thought she could think that through in a night. Not to mention under stress. I wouldn’t get that character in a forensic sculptor like her but hell yes! I love that she is what she is in the character because it just drives me to read more.

Then there’s John Logan. I have a bad feeling about him in the beginning. Things are pretty working well but when he came, everything became a mess. He is unpredictable. All the things he sacrifice, and the lies just to get what he really want to happen. I would have never thought he has something up his sleeve. He displays great character, charisma, wit, strength, power and yes money. Everything wouldn’t be possible without his money moving with his plans. Though I never expected him to be who he is. I thought all the things he displays is who is but everyone will always hide something about themselves until they are confident to show it to the person they are comfortable with. The way he develops his character in every chapter makes me adore him more. Not to mention, I love his humor , sarcasm and attitude. He is frank, and yet funny. I find a lot of his statements funny and he is such a spice in the book that keeps everything in good taste. I love his character here.

Gil is such a good person and I love how he acts when him, John and Eve are together. He is such a cute character here. Margaret is a great person, everything should be in order and such an efficient woman. Sandra is a loving mother with tenacity that you can’t just shake off. Joe is strong, persistent, selfless, driven and reckless sometimes. I am curious about his role in this book and I would love to know him better in the next book.

The ending is just great. I am satisfied with how it end though I know there are still succeeding books to this. Iris Johansen definitely know how to stroke her writing. A real page turner. The suspense is always striking no matter which angle you face. Just great.

Overall this book is highly recommended! Never miss out any Iris Johansen book if you are a mystery/crime thriller fan. You’ll never regret it.

While the story had some fun twists and turns the writing was mediocre and the characters very one dimensional. Kept my attention but if you asked me about it in six months I doubt I will remember reading it.

I picked this book up at an ACME from their bargain bin. While it wasn’t my most favorite, I did appreciate the author’s writing style and the interesting content. The author heavily focused on dialogue as the main medium of content communication, which I found interesting. The pace of the novel was also very quick: characters physically moving around, subplots unraveling, speed of events. I appreciate the novel for what it is, but I had trouble staying interested.
