I really liked this book - the characters that took time to develop and the twisted story. Not an uplifting book, but so good.

The payoff wasn't worth the journey to get there. Additionally, there is something quite forced and inauthentic about the setting and characterization like the author wanted this to be like True Grit or To Kill a Mockingbird or something buttt ended up getting exposed lol.

2.5⭐️ I’m definitely in the minority with this one…
I just couldn’t get on with the writing style and half the time I didn’t know what was going on (though that may be a reflection of me!). Some interesting moments but overall I found myself checking how many pages I had left far too often.
