Romance Rushed But Otherwise Good

This series seems a lot more fast paced than the one that preceded it. Which is fine but the romantic sub plot pretty much poofed into existence for (probably) later convince. Only other hang up is this author now has 3 different versions of poker face. I always wondered why she had two in the last series and now she has another 😂. Otherwise this book had lovely surprises and is well written.

It’s a wonderful story that has all the qualities of Cinda Williams Chima’s books: mystery, heartbreak, death, romance, pain, anger, revenge, hope, secrets. I personally am a fast reader and this is my second time through. The first time
I was so saddened by Han’s death in the streets of ragmarket that I stopped the book on page 26 and reread the first series( the seven realms) to make myself happy again before I finished the book. I would say it was definitely more fast paced than the seven realms books (as the romance between Han and Raisa starts in the Exiled Queen but gets fiery hot in The Gray Wolf Throne. Where as in this one, all the different romances start in Flamecaster and join up in Deathcaster.)<\spoiler> I quite enjoyed the complexity of the book and how deep the romance is. Long-story-short I reeeeeaaaaaallllyy enjoyed this book!!!!!!!!!
if you like dark romances between two secretive people with scarred pasts in a castle dungeon then this book is for you!<\spoiler>
