Skipped over 100 pages and went to the last few chapters. The book was unnecessarily long.

It took me a little while to fully immerse myself in the story, but once I got into it, I was hooked until the end. I've been an avid Nicholas Sparks reader since middle school, and I know that a lot of his books have some sort of suspense in them, but I feel like this particular one has enough suspense and thrill to outweigh the romance, and I kind of loved that switch-up.

Not a very Nicholas Sparks-esque book. I had the bad guy(s) figured out but I still really enjoyed it.

We listened to this book on a trip. The beginning dragged and dragged. It was torture. It finally got into a story, but even I figured it out--and I am not known to do this.

I have read many of Nicholas Sparks’ gems and first fell in love with and got hooked on his books after reading “The Notebook”. Since then I have read most of his books, enjoying some more than others and coming across some more gems. Sadly, this book missed the mark for me. I found it to be long and drawn out and just lacked the usual “lustre” and deeply moving, emotional connection that I’ve come to expect when reading a Sparks book.
