I remember enjoying the first book but I was just bored reading this. Although there were a few interesting bits that popped up occasionally as a whole it could have been way better.

I give this book a 3.5. My only complaint is I wish the novels were longer. I love the illustrations and the font is a larger than normal so it is a quick read. This series is the perfect combination of classic mystery and some historical fiction. I am hoping with the the way this one ended that there will be more books in this series.

Lots of fun! I'm looking forward to the next one

I read the first book of this series in November, and the second one was just as charming. The universe expands to include a few new tweenage “detectives” (relatives of Ada Lovelace and Mary Shelly), all of whom prove instrumental in solving the latest case. A young woman is engaged to a potential ne’er-do-well, and at the same time a mysterious girl in grey might be a ghost. Our Young Heroines (tm) must crack the case before it’s too late! I enjoyed both the writing and the characters, and the illustrations were lovely. I look forward to reading the rest of the series. (Because I’m a grown-up and I can read middle-grade books if I want, damnit!)

I'm really enjoying this reimagined life of Aida Byron Lovelace and Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley as their paths cross in this historical fiction tale. The story picks up shortly after the events of the first book and this time Aidan and Mary are each living with their younger sisters. The author places across their paths real-life historical figures, such as Charles Dickens, Percy Shelley, and many others. She has changed their relationships with our main characters to suit her tale, but that doesn't matter. It's really fun imagining that this all happened with our characters. She has taken liberties and extended the lives of some of them (like Shelley) and I love that she follows the book (and I assume each of the subsequent books) with a little blurb about each of the real characters. If you like smart, resilient, and capable female characters set in an era where all of those things were frowned upon, and you enjoy a little bit of mystery, you should definitely check out this series. In some ways, this series reminds me of Enola Holmes, although Enola is older, but I suspect fans of Enola Holmes would also enjoy this lesser-known series. It's definitely worth checking out! I'm already looking forward to the next one.

The story was fun, but I didn't find it too exciting.... it could be because I haven't read the 1st one yet, so don't judge it by my review. Read it for yourself!

This was a fun Middle Grade read with whispers of Wilkie Collins' The Woman in White woven in! First #boutofbooks title finished! Kids will love this middle grade mystery.

This one was just as fun, entertaining and hilarious as the first one in the series. But I think the Mystery around the second case - the Girl in Grey - is more interesting and better fleshed-out than in the first one.
