This was a reread—I first read it almost 10 years ago so knew I would like it but had completely forgotten what happened. I am not a huge romance fan, but I appreciate it most in historical fiction. This book is definitely more of a fun read, not particularly challenging or intellectual. But I didn't read it for statements about history or deeply complex characters—I read it for an entertaining story! Less than four stars because it felt a bit rushed at times—some of the characters were somewhat indistinct from one another and information on the setting was often lacking.
