A lovely meringue of a novel and just what I needed to read during a pandemic. Looking forward to reading more.

Too much like ever other detective books. I will be reading the rest of the series to see if it’ll get better.

I purchased this book February 1, 2013 and I literally just read it. I have no idea what is wrong with me because I really, really liked this book! It is well written with a great plot and even better characters. Emily is flawed but amazing. Lucky for me there are plenty of other books that followed this one. Don’t wait years to read it, it is lovely!

his may very well have been the first historical cozy thriller I have ever read. After setting the scene and the characters, the story kept winding in a tighter and tighter circle regarding who did which crime. An excellent start to the series. Got book 2 out of the library before finishing book 1.

I really liked Emily and her growth.  She was quite funny and made me laugh.

Boring and repetitive. Went from slight impatience, to skimming quickly, to just skipping 10 chapters. Read the last three chapters to see if anything surprising happened. It didn’t.

Pretty unexciting on the mystery/suspense front, but I enjoyed the tone of the writing.
