'Dark Knights: Metal: The Resistance' from DC Comics is a supplemental volume to the main Dark Knights: Metal. The main story is collected in the Dark Nights: Metal: Deluxe Edition. This volume serves to fill in the gaps with 12 additional comics that were in the crossover.

Gotham is under siege from an odd collection of altered Batmen. He has enlisted The Riddler and Mr. Frost in the battle. Facing off against him are the the Teen Titans, the Justice League, and members of the Suicide Squad. Some of the altered Batmen show up, but the primary one is the Joker infused Batman Who Smiles with his horrific smile and minions on chains.

My favorite volume of the series is still Dark Nights: Metal: Dark Knights Rising. I liked parts of this volume more than others. The stories are meant to be read along with the main story, so reading this straight through feels a bit disjointed at times. Also, once you've read the main story, this feels a bit anticlimactic to read.

I received a review copy of this graphic novel from DC Entertainment and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this graphic novel.

I would say that this is pretty serviceable for the event itself. The standalones were pretty good reading, especially Batman Lost and Hawkman Found.

The two resistance arcs are good background and I did enjoy the empowered Batman Rogues.

I received a free electronic ARC of this graphic novel from Netgalley in return for an honest review.

Without reading the other books in the Metal series, this would be very difficult to follow. It jumps around from comic title to comic title, not so much one story as bits and pieces. There is a lot of good writing and interesting character development, although it was often arrested by the inconstant nature of the anthology. The artwork, overall, was well done and exciting. Needed to fully understand the Metal series.

This shows you what other heroes are doing during the time that the others are looking for superman. I do like knowing what Nightwing has been through and the others, it shows why Nightwing is the way he is when we see him in the other books and why he is so down about it. The stories are also well written within each other, the connection making sense for the most part, and it flows well through each comic.

The artwork is pretty, I think my favorite would be the suicide squad and Nightwing. Ivy's plants are drawn beautifully along with with the poisoned starfire and how they all look deadly rather than not as terrifying. The art in Nightwing is wonderful when your looking at Freeze's monster and those around it that are helping him. The Dark Robin is just as gruesome as the batman who laughed. It's an interesting take on what Robin would be if he followed into maddnes.

I think it needs to be switched around where Teentitans 12 is before Nightwing 29? Because the two stories clash with back tracking as to explain what happened to the titans and how harley and them got with the others. It could be how they wanted it (or it was released?) But it's a little hard to follow in this instance since the others have been all together. To keep it all flowing Green Arrow should be after the suicide squad one, and you have the information together following Nightwing, Robin, and Green arrow in sync rather than disjointed not sure where it goes. The ones involving the Justice league being in front looks good and it's easier to see what's going on, with the members there rather than not seeing what took them all so long and what they went through.

Over all I did enjoy it just not a much as I had enjoyed the others and it could have been due to the disjointed of them? I'm not sure but it's nice to see how it affected the others that we didn't get to see in the others.

I was kinda disappointed reading this because I thought it would be cool but it’s pretty boring.

Plot(s) - there are four stories. The first is the Gotham resistance (reference to the French resistance) which was a team composed of nightwing, robin, Harley, croc and prob some more guys I don’t remember. They basically ran around Gotham fighting baddies and stuff. Then was Batman lost the worst one in the book. The third story was bats out of hell which was the best one where the league and friends split in teams to find Nth metal. The last story was hawkman found which was cool but didn’t feel like a complete story.

My thoughts - Gotham resistance was pretty boring to me since most of the character on the team were uninteresting and B listers, also I didn’t like the riddler being the villain. The good parts of the story were the art and how they made croc and Harley goodies. Then Batman lost was the worst because of how boring it was and how all over the place the plot was, it felt like a teenager finding out its identity. Then the best part of the book, bats out of hell. I loved the art and the team dynamic and how the heroes were forced to be around being they don’t know, also cyborg saves himself in this one. Finally hawkman found is pretty cool, nothing special but nothing really bad.

Honestly a little messy to have to read the whole story across multiple books, but it does pay off by the end of it. Snyder has really done a great job with this ambitious story worthy of a big event. The art was generally good, but with a few standout artists who elevated the art of the books. Till now, I'm still not quite sure what happened in the whole Metal event, even after having read everything (it was too convoluted after all), but it was still a good run with high stakes and action involved.
