I was expecting so much more. Cats and books - it can’t be much better, can it? I did like the sassy cat, though I expected him to have a bigger role in actually saving the books, ‘cause of the title and all. 2.5 stars from me, but because of the description of the bookstore, the grandpa and his wise words, and a sweet friendship in the making, I rounded up to three. It had so much potential, but unfortunately this just wasn’t it for me.

Japanese tone/style of writing is not my cup of tea, but the story was short, simple and endearing. Besides, the topic of books and their value is one of my favs.
Fav quote: "El solo hecho de vivir ya cansa a la gente, y lo que busca son estímulos y experiencias terapéuticas."

This book is a fun read; I had a great time with it. The simple plot points and structure of all the labyrinths made it an easy book to pick up and read between intervals of our chaotic lives. My only downside of this book is that sometimes, in Rintaro's arguments, it felt like he was restating the same points multiple times to the same people. Overall a story about change and hope.

I picked up with book because of a recommendation & because I loved the Toshikazu Kawaguchi novel much. I would say I enjoyed this as much as thought book but still found it a beautiful story & would recommend.

Oh my goodness, what a cozy and heartwarming story! I loved all the layers of the main character and the overall message. It’s a story that is truly important for every age to read and collect value from.

Note to self: I read this book solely via audiobook
