Mysterious and intriguing. Lots of characters with twists and turns and connection. I like the ending, but I wish some more of the details were fleshed out about the owls, friendships, etc.

Thank you so much to PRH audio for my ALC!
Adrienne does it again, I have been seriously enjoying her adult fantasy books. While I did read and loved her YA's, adult fantasy seems to be her forte to me personally. I was nervous to pick up this one after June Farrow because I really loved that experience of reading June Farrow and wanted this to live up to it, glad that I ended up really being invested in this story from get go. Adrienne Young is definitely gifted with evoking strong emotions with her beautiful prose, her strong capability to set up a beautiful yet haunting and melancholic ambiance to her plot lines is always an added bonus
I really enjoyed the way she is experimenting with fantasy and suspense seamlessly blending them into a sleepy small town mystery. This book revolves around James going back to her estranged small town after getting the devastating news of her twin brother's passing, however what she expects to be a quick stop turns into something unexpected because she immediately suspects a possible foul play in his death. James want to uncover the truth not only for closure but also put Johnny's ghostly presence to rest, I loved how the author used this mysterious twin connection to drive her story. She employs Micah her one true love from the past to help her figure out the mystery, what unravels is surely twisted yet entertaining
The only reason that I knocked off a star is because of the pacing at times, while it has a great story and execution I felt like it takes a tad bit longer than necessary to get to the climax. I think it could've better structured in that aspect. The audio book is spot on with immaculate narration that fits perfectly with the ambiance of the book, highly recommend the audiobook!

If you like this author, you’ll like this one. A little less magical based than some of the others. Mystery was fairly predictable but I flew through it and enjoyed.
