Tense, reflective, and full of mystery and longing. A Sea of Unspoken Things is a haunting, small-town mystery beautifully told in a way that'll have you searching for answers right alongside James.

James Golden returns to town after the accidental death of her twin brother, Johnny. Grappling with grief while the town questions why she left, why she's back, James finds out that she may not have truly known her brother.

Adrienne Young's storytelling is captivating, magical, and atmospheric. Crisp and succinct, the story leaves no room for fluff, keeping it short but heavy with emotion.

Overall, a wonderful, cool-weather read. Perfect for a late fall day where you may catch the snow start to fall.

It felt so slow at times, but, wow, that ending/plot twist definitely got me.
mysterious slow-paced

VERY slow buildup and overall just kind of boring. Things didn’t get twisty or interesting until the last hour (of audiobook) and by that point I was ready for it to end. I liked the characters and the plot, it just needed to be sped up

I went into this book blind and was not expecting a murder mystery. Not my usual style but it was engaging throughout. I wasn’t attached to any of the characters cause they’re all a little shitty but I guess that’s reality. Easy read that I’d recommend but wouldn’t pick up again.
