I enjoyed this collection of short stories. The stories move between China and San Francisco addressing relationships, isolation and belonging.

The audiobook narrator's voice was grating. The stories peaked near the end but were overall meandering.

I received this advanced copy from Goodread’s giveaways and I have to say I was impressed with Meng Jin’s ability to create intense story lines. I found that it was difficult to put the book down but there came a point where, personally, I began losing interest in every other story. This is because of the immense diversity of each story provided and I usually direct my attention to a few genres. But, If you’re a fan of short stories I would definitely recommend this book! 4/5⭐️
