The first 20% I would say is just character development and little to no plot. However after getting past the first 20% its becomes a good mix and I just couldn’t put it down.

This was such an amazing read. Unfortunately, I couldn’t get through All The Bright Places (without feeling sad) because I watched the movie first. However, Holding Up The Universe was less devastating but still a hard hitter. I loved it. I read every letter, I re-read pages, I took pictures, and I wrote quotes. This book was wonderfully written, it is a gem. I’m grateful for Libby and Jack. I’m thankful for Rachel, Bailey, Iris, Jayvee, Marcus, and Dusty. 🤍

Reading 'Holding up the Universe' was a challenge. Keeping track of the characters, why so many? And the pacing - so slow and predictable. I'm unsure why there were so many different characters. Was it an attempt for us to relate to Jack's prosopagnosia? I'm unsure. Also, some of the scenes with Libby were cringeworthy in themselves. I found the characters had zero chemistry and felt as if they were forced to end up together. I had previously read and loved 'All the Bright Places,' so this book was lacking in comparison. I finished the book feeling dissatisfied and disappointed.
