Interesting artwork and system of writing. It's fighting scenes are very complicated to follow but, once you understand it, it's amazing. Definitely worth the money.

Many thanks to NetGalley and BOOM! Studios for providing me with a DRC of this graphic novel for an honest review.

Oh my god! I couldn't put this one down - can't believe it's a debut! A.C. Esguerra is an author to look out for. With these types of stories, it's always a hit or miss for me. I didn't know what to expect at first and I will admit that it was a let down realizing the graphic novel was not in full-color after that absolutely gorgeous cover; I can safely say that it was a very enjoyable read. (Don't get me wrong, the art is beautiful, I'm just greedy and want more because of how absolutely stunning it is.) The characters were so freaking interesting that I wish there was another volume of this on the way, might have fallen in love with Sable and Jay. The narration style was perfect to make you get into the heads of these characters and like them even more. The storyline gets a bit confusing and all over the place at some point, or at least it was like that for me, so I would recommend not binging it in one sitting like I did if you start feeling a bit lost in the middle. Like I said, this could easily have more volumes, there is just so much world building here that I feel is wasted on a standalone novel. So much potential too. I would definitely recommend it for anyone who wishes to read a captivating graphic novel with a cute and heartwarming love storyline on the side. The characters are well developed, fleshed out, and very VERY loveable, the art is gorgeous and the story itself is interesting enough to keep you hooked. Please give this a read if you can!

The E-Arc of Eighty Days was kindly provided by Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This has not altered my opinion of the book

I really enjoyed this! The artwork is beautiful, even though it is at times difficult to read (especially fighting scenes). Do not be fooled by the stunning and colorful cover though, this is a darker story that has war and oppression as its backdrop. That being said, the main focus of the story is the blossoming love and the hopeful quest for freedom.

I found the story captivating. I was immediately intrigued by the pilot Jay and his growing relationship with Fix, a thief turned radio operator. I also really loved Sable’s character and following her as she rose in the enemies’ ranks. The war used as a backdrop for the story seems to be based on WW2, and the organization AVO who has replaced governments and who controls the skies reeks of fascism. I think the author blended the love story at the heart of it all with the rally against oppressive governments and the fight for freedom really well! I highly recommend this graphic novel.

Okay, so I didn't really have any expectations for this book. I just picked it up because the cover art was pretty. I was a little disappointed that the art was just black and white, but that lasted a whole of 2 pages until I reached the actual story.

The art is weirdly captivating. It just made the whole story more powerful. The brush strokes and dramatic shading are epic. The character designs and their expressions are just amazing. Like wow. It was hard to breathe at times, when I was captivated by the art (I sound like a broken record, but seriously...).

Aaanyway, the story was great too! Maybe after talking about the art, I'll sound unimpressed. The story was rather simple. Can't go wrong with simple, right? There were a couple things that seemed a bit underdeveloped, but maybe that's just because I wanted more details of the story. It took me a hot minute to realize the narration bubbles were pilot logs and maybe that threw me out of the story at first. But once I moved past that, I really enjoyed the story.

This was seriously a really great read. I recommend to anyone who will listen to me! I really enjoyed it. I even made it the 100th book I read in 2021 :) (worth it!)
Anyway, totally go for it! I can't wait to go back and randomly stare at the art in this book...
