Giving this one a just okay rating. It wasn’t terrible but I was coming in thinking it’d be amazing and deeply interesting. It ended up being marginal. Some of the “duplicitous scientific connections were pretty remote and stretched thin” and while the stories as noted by the titles sounded gripping they generally ended up being ho-hum.

An enjoyable read with a good theme, but the information contained within felt a little too surface level for my tastes. It was still new to me and prompted me to look up further details, but it was also a really quick read that didn't really dive into things I found myself hoping for.

Woah. Really interesting true tales of science, history and crime. This was a great read to fill the spare moments. It really was a fascinating thrill ride. There are lots of bad things people have done throughout history in the name of science. I recommend this one for both science nerds and true crime aficionados.

This was an excellent read, although some of the details are not for the weak of stomach. Adding content warning/trigger warning information because they were hard to find when I was vetting this book for my book club.
CW: Rape, torture, animal cruelty, mutilation of bodies both living and dead, and some pretty grisly medical details.
