It wasn't that bad but I was bored and found that I had to force myself to listen. I think part of it might have been the narrator/audio editing. There weren't proper gaps between scene shifts and the characters just all felt flat. Also didn't feel/sound like 1920s, I had to keep reminding myself of the setting.

Thank you to NetGalley for giving me an ARC in exchange for an honest review. The concept was so interesting, but this wasn’t what I thought it was going to be. I felt confused at times and wanted more from the plot, characters, and world. There were some things that happened in the end that I wasn’t expecting.
Friends to enemies to lovers… Not the strongest writing and you can tell it’s YA…. BUT I liked it a lot and am excited to read the next one. Young, black, sapphic, yearning, vampires? Mhm!

I enjoyed this for the most part. I found the beginning a little rough and clunky but I really enjoyed the ending and I am excited to see what book 2 will be.

Vampires hate to love with complicated past story, and set in a jazz harlem era, full of politics and intricate plot.

I really enjoyed this book! The audiobook narration was wonderful. The slow burn in this book is delightful. I absolutely cannot wait for the second book to come out in August!
