I got to a scene in which one character was interrogating another, asked one question, and then had a meltdown when she didn't get answers and I thought "that's enough".

It was okay. The setting and character dynamics were cooled and well written. I don’t think this was for me, though.

this review might be impacted by my hatred for doing different voices in audiobooks but the plot at the end lost me a bit.

DNF'd early into the book because it is a dual pov between the main characters but each chapter was incredibly short. Nothing was really said in the space of time for us to cut away to the next POV for me to grasp onto any character equally.

The other thing, it's mentioned early on that the 2 MCs had a major falling out - but every section ended with a grand call back to an event we don't know. It's fine for a book to keep this hidden but don't mention it after every single chapter that was like 2 pages long. Example here: "The next attack, years later and by her own friend, had shattered it." ((This was a flashback to an attack but again referencing the big schism.)
