3.5 stars rounded up to 4...i'm glad we got some context and closure in regards to seven's past but honestly i think i would have enjoyed this wayyyy more if the plot from the very beginning was just seven going around talking to animals and helping them out of silly situations while akamatsu trails after him and tries to come up with a reason for them to hold hands. the small moments of domesticity and companionship were by far my favorite - i'd read another entire volume of just these two learning how to love each other in a way that works for both of them - and i especially liked that akamatsu's dad was neither further demonized nor forgiven by his son. there's an uncomfortable coexistence between them that feels very true to life, and i appreciated that little detail a lot.
