This is such a great non-fiction read. I’m not the biggest fan of non fiction, however I had to read this for a class and it was such a unique and inspiring read to see where the students go in life.

I love the movie Freedom Writers and was interested in reading the real life stories of the students in Ms. Gruwell's class. This book tugged at the heartstrings while also providing smiles seeing how far they came and the history they were making. It was a very enjoyable book.

The stories of the students are heart breaking. I am happy I had the opportunity to read about their lives, their struggles, and how the world has treated not only them but their communities

I don’t remember much since I last read it back in January, so you can tell how memorable it was for me, lol. I dunno, it was alright. The whole “tolerance for ALL” mantra was way too heavy-handed for my taste, but I’m glad the students were able to find solace and community within Gruwell’s classroom.
