I love David Nichols writing style and I adored these two characters. The book felt warm and cosy and hopeful and I can already tell that this is going to be a book I will revisit.

I wasn’t rooting for Marnie and Michael. I found Marnie quite unlikable at times and the only feelings this book gave me were sadness and a despondency around being alone vs being lonely.

When I first read David Nicholls I was too young and his slow romantic style didn't click. But now it is everything. So much of this book should have been cheesy but Nicolls makes it genuinely heartfelt. I was reluctant to leave Michael and Marnie behind - I hope they get to dip their toes in the North Sea.
