This book does a good job of describing public speaking as a "public" value. The themes of choice and responsibility are invoked consistently throughout. It's marred by some poor editing--particularly in the early chapters. The sample speeches at the end would have benefited from stronger framing; it's not clear why the authors chose these particular speeches and what they wanted students to learn from them.
