I didn’t want this book to end. I love how much I felt like I was in Darcy’s world. I didn’t want this book to end. This is a true fictional coming of age story. From High school drama to family life issues. I felt like this book was some I could pick up over and over and fall in love with the characters from the start over again. Is so cute.

Audiobook narrator really made this book.

The story was okay. I picked this up expecting an easy, lighthearted romance, and that's what half of it was. Much of it was about friends, coming of age, growing up. Wonderful topics for YA to cover and this book did a decent job at that. The two BFFs of the story were really sweet friends.

This book was really hard to get through, though. I don't know if it was the style of writing or the protagonist, but everything was described as a life or death soap opera ordeal, vivid descriptions of internal agony dragging on far too long. I started to not care. The subplots could have been better woven together. Asher as a love interest was proposed far too late in the story for a book that advertises itself as a romance, and Darcy's mother was ditched for numerous sequential chapters  and reappeared when her hoarding became relevant to the romantic plot.
Not to mention the reconciliation between her and her mother was nearly entirely about Darcy. Honestly a selfish character I hated her at the end.

Also sorry the romance became super cringe as it developed. I swear they dated for a whole month and Asher was like "if u won't let me in ur house then it's over.... think it over...." like honey what? and Darcy thinking that Asher is her wonderful prince who helped fix her family forever... not a good mentality to have babe like, I love boys too but chill out.

Book is good if ur like a 13/14 y/o just don't take it super seriously in the romance or the mental illness department.

I enjoyed the way the characters verbalized their inner lives in a way that felt natural and insightful. the dialogue was a joy to read. i liked that a variety of real issues were tackled without being overbearing to the tone of the novel. Laura’s writing has let to leave me disappointed. I’d recommend this to anyone that loves words and strength that they can draw from others that love them too.

High school romance is so sweet and beautiful.  Darcy is the wallflower blooming during her senior year. The hot boy who got in a car crash after he graduated starts coming to the bookstore since he is working across the street. Asher is living a nightmare since his car accident which causes him to have headaches so he can't do what he loves. Nice coming of age story.

I found this book so cute! Book 8 of the year (technically like 7.5 but oh well)! I related so much to Cardy (not gonna talk about that one) and found the romance so cute and swoony and fluffy and full of literally all of my favourite tropes! Ahh

This book ruined my streak of reading great books. I'd say it was the worst I've read this year. Not only is the main character one of those desperately quirky and different protagonists that *SHOCKER* loves to read, but she falls for a guy with a girlfriend and oversteps the boundaries of their relationship. The plot was messy and unfocused and the characters were equally one dimensional. If you're going to read this at least don't spend your money on it and borrow it from a friend or the library.

I don't think I would have ever picked up this novel had it not been a pick for my book club the Between the Sheets Book Club (as it is not the genre I usually gravitate towards) and I'm sad to say I didn't enjoy this one because of this reason.

My main issue with this novel is the fact that it lacked....direction. It was very much a character-driven story, but the plot felt like too much and not enough simultaneously. So many subplots were introduced (some feeling more "out of the blue" than others), and it made the reading experience feel overcrowded. I appreciated how this novel discussed hoarding and familial relationships, but it just wasn't fleshed out enough to where I felt a deep connection to what was happening - I didn't find myself rooting for anyone, or anything for that matter. The big reveal at the end was extremely rushed as well.

I found our main character Darcy to be very surface-level and pretentious at times. Our love interest Asher Fleet was very standard for a YA love interest (and no, his irony of last name and his desire to be a pilot was not lost on me), but I wish their romance made a little bit more sense. I think that all of the relationships in this book could have been fleshed out a bit more, especially being as it is a character-driven story.

The writing felt juvenile to me - it felt very early-teen YA (like the 11-12 age range). That being said, I am willing to give another one of this author's novels a go, I just wish I loved this one a little bit more!
