So.... I have ZERO background on Black Panther. Literally Zero. My first introduction to the character was his appearance in Cap3: Civil War.... So there will be no comments on its canonical accuracy.

It was a romp though. Good pacing, smooth story development, underlying character consistency even as they evolve... It was a fun, quick read. Part ghost story, part study-abroad adventure, it was quite pleasant. Nothing about it was ground breaking in any way, but the only thing that tripped me up was the lack of solid cover IDs. Like King T'Chaka sent his son and his best friend to Chicago to hide them from a building war where enemies are everywhere and he didn't build them bulletproof fake IDs? T'Challa and M'Baku had to make up their fake names on the bus ride to school? How did they even get ENROLLED in a school without real names? (Or fake IDs with profiles strong enough to make the school think they had their real names?)

I know this book is meant for 8 year olds, so I'm not expecting them to go into the details of things like getting you vaccination records in two weeks beforehand, or registering a local-address emergency contact, but a NAME would be nice. You can't just walk into a school without a name and have the faculty say "hey look, the new students from Africa are here, take your schedules and get to class"... that's just NOT how it works....

Other than that, however, it was great.
And I definitely enjoyed the cameo of the ONE character I actually recognized. ^_^
adventurous fast-paced

It was okay but it wasn't what I had expected.
