I think I zoned out a lot reading this story. It was supposed to be a ''cozy mystery'' but for that to be true, we actually need a mystery. I didn't find it. And most of the book was about the MC going around singing or pining over her high school ex. She's in her 30s and haven't moved on.

Maybe this is what I get for going into books blind, but when I see the words "cozy mystery" I expect there to actually be a mystery and for the main character to solve it. There is no murder unless you count a "witch" burning from generations before. I have no issues with short little mysteries, but I want there to be an actual mystery involved. I guess this one missed the mark for me.

* I was provided a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review*. What a cute introduction to the world of a lawyer looking forward to getting away from the big city life, and a return to her small waterfront town where she's bought a possibly haunted house. Accompanied by her very smart beagle she works to uncover the mystery behind the house, and in this short you're introduced to some of the key players of the town. I'll definitely be picking up another of this cozy mystery series.
