Fast read. Fun read. Romance level was great. I somehow missed that it was based at a circus when I bought it but a little disappointed that there wasn't more circus material. The writing style could be improved but overall I will read the next one.

It was going to be lower but the ending was actually pretty good. :) However still a lower star review as the book seemed to rush the storyline a few times giving an information dump almost every few chapters.

The overall plot was good and I think would have been better with a slower storyline/ character development.

Too much (too fast) romance, not enough fantasy circus high jinks

This was just not good. The spice/smut was the best part of this book and there was too much of it because it had literally nothing to do with the plot. The last twenty pages of this book were not necessary. The three spice scenes in the beginning completely not necessary, though I know it doesn't have to be necessary in books like these. It just came out of nowhere? Like one minute they meet and within the next week they're having constant sex. Also, why is a circus on the front of this book or mentioned at ALL in the synopsis? The circus is LITERALLY maybe on ten pages of this book, like MAYBE.

Honestly, the concept of this world isn't that bad. I think it could be really cool if Ascher bothered to flesh it out at all and focus on anything other than the insta-love and lust of these two characters. Like the world is mentioned *barely*. The font is about two sizes bigger than normal and the margins are wide this is a 250 page book stretched out to hit about 380. It just...wasn't great. That's about all I can say about it. I didn't hate it so vehemently to not finish it, but I got very little enjoyment out of it either.

This was a pretty fast paced read. I really liked the concept, but I felt like the world building could have gone a smidge deeper. The characters were well fleshed out, though I think they jumped into sexy times a bit quickly. It makes sense later on, but still. Totally loved Raith. Looking forward to Malaikah’s story.
