I almost gave this four stars because I feel like the magic element or whatever you want to call it came out of nowhere. But I love the evil MC. They gives me Leave Her to Heaven vibes. And honestly, that last twist did get me tbh.

This is the first book of author Sarah Pinborough's that I have read and it won't be my last! I thought I knew where it was going but BAM, I was wrong. Ok, so now I know where it's going but BAM, wrong again! 

It took a hot minute to get going but soon the story sucked me in. The characters are a mess who make a lot of bad choices but I found them interesting none the less. I liked the way to the story unfolds and kept me guessing.

I think people only like or dislike this book because of the end. I like twists. The twist at the end of this seemed like it was completely random and added just for shocker value.

It was a short book so if you are determined to read it, it won't waste too much of your life.

Honestly this was entertaining but it was also kind of boring at the same time. Nothing thrilling really happened so I kept wondering like what was gonna happen and what was the point. But the ending I did not see coming at all and I was shocked. I don’t know if I necessarily like it but I didn’t see it coming so there’s that.
