Beautiful and terrible. Essential reading. Illustrates the brutal aftershocks of white colonization in the modern world.

This book was a great reminder, for me, of all the harm and betrayal native/indigenous people in the Americas experienced and continue to experience.
My only complaint was not knowing if anyone survived, specifically Edwin and Orvil.

This was a difficult one to keep up with because of all the different characters, point of views, and time changes. Once it all starts tying together, it draws you in more. The realities of the different backgrounds in indigenous communities was broadcasted in this book and that was my favorite part. There is a lot of stereotypes placed on indigenous peoples. I was a little bummed about the ending since there was no real closure within everyone, but maybe that’s the point.

Maybe not for me ever, certainly not for me now. Multiple points of view that more or less came together at the end. When I'm introduced to everyone I care about no one. I found it difficult to follow whose story I was in and even harder to care.
That said, it wasn't poorly written, but outside of my taste right now. I read for escape and this appears very rooted in reality.

I enjoyed this overall but didn't love it as much as I thought I would! the two main things i didn't like were: 1. I thought there were too many characters for how long the book was - I just felt like we barely scratched the surface, and because there were so many I also kept forgetting some people 2. i didn't love how the characters were written in general. i never really felt most of them; instead they generally felt more like vessels for larger ideas. and as a character person that was such a bummer because i felt like they could've been vessels for those larger ideas while still feeling real and more 3-dimensional.
i liked the writing in general and there were some beautiful lines, but a lot of it felt more tell-y than show-y.
anyways thought this was gonna be a five star but oh well, glad i finally read it!
