Buckle up because I really thought I would like the third book the best… Alas, I was majorly let down.
The first 40% of the book is very repetitive and I was very close, VERY CLOSE to not finishing it or just speed reading it to be done.
There’s more on Diem’s backstory from before the first book, ore closure on her crown status, but the romance is really what killed me. Luther promised never to lie, to always be around and in her corner, but everything from like the 35% to 70% was just trash and deceit.
The answers she finds, she does not dent or make a big deal out of not understanding the truths surrounding her birth and powers anymore, which is something… but also, can she just be mature for ten seconds. She’s so naive, but then she’s written as an all knowing crown throwing her opinions and rules around without understanding how politics work. She’s just expects people to follow and obey her because she’s crown, but does not have the respect from anyone to be able to have real leadership qualities.
All in all, I could have skipped this series and been just fine. I did rate as 3 stars because the plot did move forward and secrets are uncovered and now realized, but i knocked it down for its repetitive bs and stupidity revolving Luther and Diem’s relationship. Ugh.
