Já jsem z této knížky nadšená už jenom kvůli tomu, že jsem ji zvládla přečíst! :D Ale jinak se mi četla neuvěřitelně dobře, příběh má moc pěkný, postavy sympatické a ten klišé konec můžu autorce i odpustit. Bavila jsem se u té knížky, važně jo. Strašně těžce se mi dávala pryč, chtěla jsem ji mít přečtenou co nejdříve a to se mi občas nestává ani u knih v češtině.
Takže, tahle knížka se rozhodně pro dívky – hlavně pokud máte rády romantické a oddechové knížky. Nedokážu si představit, že by tahle knížka mohla kluky bavit, takže jim to ani nebudu vnucovat. Ale holkám ji rozhodně doporučuji. A ani se nemusíte moc bát té angličtiny, pokud máte aspoň určitou slovní zásobu. Knížku jsem zvládla přečíst i já, tak to snad zvládnete též. Já osobně se už teď těším, až si od Kelly Oram přečtu něco dalšího. :)

This was one of those books that proved to be unexpectedly good. Glad I decided to pick this one for a light and fluffy read.
Valerie has just been dumped by her boyfriend since she refused to give in for sex and is determined to remain a virgin till marriage because of her biological mother's request. Pissed, the ex tries to get back at her by spreading rumors and getting together with Val's nemesis at the school cafeteria. Val, being pissed at this, throws a tantrum of her virgin-ness and how she's proud of that which shortly makes her a youtube celebrity, which gives her the idea of starting a campaign of such. In the mean time, she meets local celebrity rockstar Kyle who's determined to change Virgin Val's virginity state and starts showing 'Over-the-top' gestures, which I liked.
Anyway, I wish there was a sequel because I've read far more 'Less worthy' books to have so. Oh well.

V is for Virgin begins when Val's boyfriend breaks up with him because she told him she was going to wait to have sex until marriage. After a life altering incident she starts a V is for Virgin crusade. She doesn't want to push people to wait, she just wants to give people an outlet. This starts to make a whole lot of crazy stuff to happen in Val's life. Including the fact that she's got a rock band lead singer after her as well.
This book was very interesting. It was really good and I enjoyed it! I totally loved the whole teenager-waiting-till-marriage-for-sex! That was so awesome, and so unusual now days. I really loved Val as well. She put up with a whole bunch of crap, but still stayed true to her goals. I really liked the fact that Kyle was also trying to befriend Val. But in the end I didn't really like those two together. It sort of drove me nuts. Not only that I didn't really care for the way the book ended either. But I'm still looking forward to the next one just to see what happens to Val.

Es un libro de esos que te sacan carcajadas y te hacen sentir adolescente de nuevo, aunque sí que toca temas interesantes.
Val quiere llegar virgen al matrimonio, cuando su novio actual se enoja al enterarse y termina con ella, Val lo grita a los cuatro vientos. Lo que no esperaba era que ese momento lo grabaran y se volviera viral, hasta el punto de volverse el rostro de una campaña. Todo se complicará cuando el cantante de una banda se proponga romper esa promesa.
Más allá si estás de acuerdo con Val, me gustó mucho el tema que toca. Al final su campaña no es para que las personas lleguen virgen al matrimonio, sino que es para que no se sientan presionadas a hacer algo que no quieren por las razones erróneas. Sobre todo los adolescentes.
Me gustó Val, tenía ciertas incoherencias en su actitud que iban en función de que la historia avanzara, pero en general me gustó. Solía mantenerse en sus ideales y decisiones, incluso sabía pelear sus propias batallas desde el inicio. No solo con personas que la trataban mal, sino que también con Cara después de todo lo que le hizo y ahí me encantó.
Sobre Cara me parece realmente lo peor, el peor personaje de todos (no en construcción, sino que como persona). Era tan egocéntrica que no se daba cuenta de lo egoísta de cada acción que hacía, además siempre jugaba el papel de víctima. Era insoportable.
Kyle era un idiota del que no esperaba nada, lo admito. Comparado con Isaac me caía mucho mejor este. Sabía que se vendría un momento de revelación para Kyle y todo eso, pero fue de forma muy abrupta en un epílogo absurdo y acelerado. Sé qué hay un segundo libro, pero aún así, darle ese final para que cierre así y después hacer un segundo libro es ridiculo.
En general, lo pasé bien. El inicio de verdad me hizo reír y divertirme, pero para el final todo era drama y subió a otros niveles de irrealidad que hasta a mí me descolocaban. Sin embargo, me gusta el tema que toca y que lo haga en libros para adolescentes.

There are some problematic behaviors in this book that are made to seem "not a big deal"; if you can go past that, it's a light and entertaining read.
