i never in a million years would have thought that this book would make me cry. i picked it up and thought it was going to be a 3 star quick read but boy i was so wrong.

val really annoyed me sometimes. by chapter 21 i was planning on giving this book 3.5 stars but i think it's was the epilogue that did it for me. i loved it and i bawled my eyes out. i don't know it might be the late night emotions talking and i might come and change the rating once i come back to my senses but i really enjoyed this book.

3.5 - 4 Stars

I really like how Kelly Oram writes so it was very easy for me to get into the book. I loved the book until the huge beef between Val and Cara. It annoyed me SO much even though I could understand why it happened and had to happen. I don’t know if Kelly Oram knew there would be a second book from the beginning, but if not I would be super pissed because of how the book endet. There was so much going on and I became so annoyed with everyone and everything. I’m hoping that the second book can make a good ending for the whole story between Val and Kyle and will be more satisfying.

It was quite a splendid read I would say. I loved the female protagonist Valerie Jenson. I loved that she was full of determination and witty comments.
On the other hand I totally hated the male protagonist, Kyle Hamilton. He sure has placed himself in a good position of my list of 'THE MALE FICTION CHARACTERS I WOULD LIKE TO KILL'. He is 21 year old guy but is totally immature. He is a snob and shallow minded.
Apart from him the book was fairly enjoyable. In some scenes I laughed so hard that I hit my head or fall down from the bed.

When I was in high school I didn't have to stand on a table in the cafeteria to announce my virginity to the world because I'm pretty sure everybody already knew about it. This book could have been sub-titled: "Mormons Aren't the Only Ones Not Doing It." And I'm fairly certain that's an accurate statement, because I've seen high schoolers, and there's no way that the Mormon kids are the only ones not getting laid (whether by choice or not). Anyway, the male lead here was a bit too much of a predator to be a viable love interest, so that's a star gone.

Couldn't finish it. Got a little more than halfway through. I was expecting something like 'American Virgin' (good comic series, by the way) but was disappointed that it ended up being an extremely judgmental novel. It was so cut and dry...having sex=bad, not having sex=good. It would've been interesting if the main character learned that hey, being in charge of your own sexuality is great, don't judge someone because being judged sure sucks, but clearly that's not the direction the author wanted.

This book is so good! Oram has quickly become one of my favorite authors! Can't wait to read the next one!

Una historia bastante simple y aburrida. Le di dos estrellas sólo porque el final me sorprendió totalmente, me esperaba otra cosa. En fin, fue lo único rescatable.

I appreciate this book because it is important for girls to be able to have books like this. It doesn't tie a girl wanting to not have sex with religion but with her own personal choice. While that isn't for everyone it is important for girls to know that there is nothing wrong with making that choice. I also liked that it included girls who had sex but regretted it for various reasons.
Now on to what I thought of the characters. While almost every character in this book (except Robin and Eric) annoyed me at some point Cara was by far the worst. Isaac was insanely boring and I forgot he was even there 85% of the time but he was also the only person who actually cared about what Val wanted or needed. He was the only one who actually ever listened to her. I enjoyed that there were so many good female characters that weren't demonized and that Val and Olivia ended up being friends. The chemistry between Kyle and Val was obvious but also he was an ass so whatever. It'd probably be better to be with boring Isaac who actually respected you than Kyle the ass who is hot.
