A Wicked Kind of Husband by Mia Vincy

Unexpected kind of plot after the first two books in the series. It reminds me of "North and South",
in that a lot of bad things happen to characters, until the end.

The characters were great, and it was easy to empathize with them.

My husband got me this for Christmas, he has a way with finding books I've never heard of but thoroughly enjoy. This was so fun to read. I haven't really dove into a lot of historical romance, but this made me want to. The writing was so witty and funny and the characters were pretty lovable. For being a period romance, I thought the FMC was a feminist of the times. She didn't let the MMC walk all over her, and didn't take him back so easily when he wronged her. And that, I loved. A strong woman in her own right. 💪🏻

Cassandra and Joshua have the perfect marriage, they haven't seen each other since their wedding night and it's been two years since. He doesn't bother her and she doesn't bother him. That is until she heads to London to get her sister married off, and they meet by chance and don't recognize one another. While she's in town, she swears once the season is over, she'll head back home. Never to bother him again. But the more they spend time together, the more they realize they like it.

Highlights:
📌Marriage of Convenience
📌Friends to Lovers
📌Historical Romance
📌Witty Banter

I picked this up as part of a reading challenge and judged it harshly and unfairly by the cover. I've never read a historical romance but had preconceived notions. I was pleasantly surprised by the depth of the characters and was intrigued by the plot. 3.5 rounded up to 4 and I may pick up the other two in the trilogy for poolside reading this summer. This is why I appreciate reading challenges... It's a chance and a reminder to read outside my comfort zone.
