This book was a chore. I understand the need to have well-developed characters but I didn't find anything likable about any of the characters in this book. I need to have a vested interested in at least someone to want to stick with it.

I really enjoyed this book. It's about a girl with Turner's Disease (the condition the title is referring to) and how her family reacts to it, but more than that it is about the condition of everyone in her (highly disfunctional) family. Each chapter takes you deeper into the life of each family member, mom, dad, two brothers and sister. I wish I hadn't finished it so quickly, read it, you'll enjoy it too!

She is one of my very favorite modern authors. This did not disappoint. It's simple - just the life stories of the members of one family over the years, but Haigh writes so well and draws you in so deeply. I did not want to close this book and leave the McKotch family.

An extraordinarily well written family story.

Interesting story about a family consisting of a mother, father, two sons and a daughter. The daughter has a diagnosis of Turner's syndrome-a genetic condition that has prevented her from maturing and has trapped her in the body of a child. Haigh does a good job or portraying the story within the story of a family's troubled history. The characters could have been developed more, but overall good storytelling which kept me engaged. 3.5 stars

This book is by the author that wrote Faith. I love the complexity of her characters... and any book with a firmly screwed up family is always interesting!

I realize the seriousness of what the characters had to deal with in this book, and most of the writing I really liked, but I felt like the story was more depressing than it needed to be, and if it had ended like that, I'd be more okay with it, since I know as well as anyone that life doesn't always end happily, but this was a depressing story (or, I think I mainly mean with depressed characters) with a happy ending that was tied up too neatly in my opinion. I'm, tempted to give it only three stars for the ending, but because it was a well-researched and though-provoking book, and I did enjoy most of it, I'll be more kind. I appreciate that the author delves so deeply into her characters and their motivations, but this type of resolution after everything else just didn't work for me.

A family drama with strong characters. The plot is twisty and sometimes will take you back into the far or near past. The far past visits were few, thank goodness, but one or two were long (and ultimately skimmable). The differing personalities in the family made up for any delays due to flashbacks, and will probably stick in my head for a good while.
