”No, I’ve just secured the world’s best revenge if I can make it happen.
”I’m gonna fuck his boss.””
 - Tis the Season for Revenge

Tropes: Age Gap, Lawyer, Legally Blonde inspired, Opposites Attract, Possessive Hero, “Good Girl”
Representation: POC (Latino)
Spice Scale: 🌶🌶🌶🌶 (Praise, Degradation, Breath Play)
CW: Toxic Relationship, Parental Abandonment, Emotional Abuse, Cheating, Mentions of Physical Abuse

I’m not entirely sure what Morgan Elizabeth put in this book, but I’m pretty sure it’s crack because I was HOOKED. I picked it up intending to read a few chapters before bed. Fast forward to 1:30 am when I was 53% of the way through.
I adored the Legally Blonde-esque start, but the twist on it. Abbie’s plan being for revenge instead of for trying to get Richard back was the update to that story I didn’t know I needed. Also, the pranks she pulled on him gave Mean Girls vibes, which was hysterical.
This book maintained a perfect balance of heartbreak, healing, and falling in love again. I loved how Morgan tackled the complexity of abusive relationships while still keeping an overall lighthearted tone. Damien was the perfect hero for this story, allowing Abbie the space to heal from the toxicity of her relationship with Richard. He says everything that any woman who’s been told they’re “too much” wants to hear, and it was kind of cathartic. The chemistry between him and Abbie was also off the charts, and the spice was incredible.
There was some drama, but the way the conflict resolved was so mature and healthy. I’d braced myself for a third-act breakup, but blessedly, there wasn’t one. The only kind oof warning that I have is that despite the book being set around Christmas, there weren’t too many Christmas vibes. However, I actually enjoyed that. It makes it so this a read that you can enjoy any time of year, even if you’re typically a person who doesn’t enjoy Christmas books outside of the holiday season.
This was my first book by Elizabeth, but it definitely won’t be my last.

I devoured this book. I didn’t think I was going to like it but I ate it up.

I loved Damien. Sweet, kind, loving, with a touch of possessiveness. He showed Abbie what true love was when she had no clue. Richard was a grade A dick and abuser I hope he rots. Abbie’s story was emotional and heartbreaking.
I wish her entire personality wasn’t based on wanting be like her sister. It makes me wonder who is Abbie at her core. Also the entire time she refused to tell Damien I felt so bad for him!
I was honestly here for the vibes and I couldn’t put it down.

Content Warnings: sexual content, sexism, toxic relationships, emotional abuse, verbal abuse, gaslighting, body shaming, and grooming.
Mention of: domestic abuse, parental abandonment, infidelity,

I was nervous to start this book because having a leading lady want revenge on an ex usually also includes her wanting to make him jealous and get him back and I'm just not about that haha So finding out that Abbie doesn't want her ex back she just wants him to realize what a prize he lost...just left me with a much better feeling.

The way that Abbie slowly looks back on her past relationship and realizing just how much she changed who she was to be what he needed/wanted was relatable. Seeing her realize the excuses she made to justify her ex's treatment of her and seeing that she is worthy and does deserve better 🤌🏽

This book is full of the best of besties and a sexy AF older man who is more than happy to show Abbie she deserves the world! 😭

Abbie thought she and Richard were endgame. So, when he dumped her and left her standing on the side of the road in a bunny costume on Halloween, she and her friends decide to get revenge. What better way to get revenge than to hook up with his boss?

Was this an incredibly well written book? No, but it was a quick, fun read. It was pretty obviously a play on Legally Blonde. The blonde who is never taken seriously, get her revenge on her ex.

One thing that really annoyed me about the writing was the long monologues within the dialogue. The characters would be talking, then there would be 3 pages of an inner monologue, then the conversation continued.

Abbie had been dating Richard for 4 years and he was absolutely horrible to her. Their relationship was riddled with gaslighting, manipulation, and emotional abuse. Addie changed everything about herself to become the person Richard wanted, but he was just using her. She was understandably traumatized from that relationship and had a lot of insecurities and self-esteem issues due to it.

I liked seeing how she was able to build herself back up throughout the book. Yet, I was kind of disappointed that most of her newfound self-esteem hinged on compliments from Damien.

Damien is a well known playboy, who also happens to be Richards boss. He is tall, dark, and handsome man who has a thing for petite blonds (shocker). He doesn't do serious, but changes his ways for Abbie (surprise!). The one thing that I really liked about him was that he spends a lot of time and effort helping to build Abbie back up and heal wounds caused by Richard.

I generally love a strong group of girlfriends. But her one friend needs some serious therapy...

Tropes: revenge, instalove

Okay this one was actually pretty good. I loved the main characters and found them so enjoyable to read about.
Damien is a great love interest (even though I hate his name) and Abigail is super relatable and I love her.
I’ve only read the one other book from this universe, but this one was for sure the better of the two

Crying score: No
