Loved reading this book in comic form and can’t wait to read more DC.

My local library has a program called Library Tinder. I signed up, filled out a form of what I like, and a librarian put together a bag of hand-picked books. This book was one of them! I distinctly remember saying in my form that I needed more Catwoman in my life and this did not disappoint. It was a sweet retelling/reimagining of Catwoman that was action-packed and read like a movie.

Yet another version of Selina Kyle's story. It was an interesting take. It was well plotted and the characterizations were realistic (within the parameters of the superhero universe). I deeply enjoyed it.

A good adaptation of the book by SJM. I liked the chemistry between Catwoman and Luke Fox!

Though Simonson has a slight tendency to have her protagonist's interior monologue duplicate what the art is showing--almost always a mistake in sequential art, I think--she has otherwise done a wonderful job adapting Sarah J. Maas's YA novel of the same name, with refreshing, kinetic art by Samantha Dodge. Refreshing, because women artists approach a character such as Poison Ivy in a manner much different from that of most male artists: she is, for example, fully clothed here in what serves as the beginning of her "career" in Gotham City--we similarly see the titular Catwoman, Batwing (Batman is absent here), and even Joker as they were in the early stages of their villainous identities. Michael Chabon, in his essay on comic books, titled "Kids' Stuff," suggests that what makes for good comics includes "the sudden emergence of a thread of goodness in a wicked nature" and by that standard, Soulstealer succeeds.
