His "humor" is really off-putting and misogynistic
Not the most exhilarating read but definitely useful! Only took me like 2 years to get around to finishing it.
A good introduction to saving money - both short term and long term. My goal was to demystify all the finance lingo. This book didn't necessarily do that but it's a good spring board into the finance world.
An excellent bare bones manual on life finances for the beginner! I learned lots and can't wait to read the updated version!
This book is designed to be an accessible story that teaches the basics of money and I saw it on all the grown ups' shelves when I was a kid. I thought I finally should get around to reading it but boy, it did not age well. The characters aren't that interesting and I was really turned off by the my-wife-spends-my-money style of humour.
I think this book had its day but things have changed in 30 years and there is a whole world of accessible financial resources out there. I highly recommend the updated version of Your Money Or Your Life by Vicki Robin.

It only took me 13 months after receiving it, but I finished the wealthy barber! Cheesy as hell, but good lessons & reminders. I even learned 3 new vocabulary words and realized look-see is, in fact, a word and not just a cheeky way of saying look.

Fast read, helpful simple advice. Since it was first published in 1989, some numbers and other pertinent info clearly out of date.
