How I love Kate and Harrec! The misunderstanding between them when Kate first comes to not-Hoth is very relatable. He is smitten and she is suspicious. Kate is tall and has always been so. She’s been teased throughout her life for her size and never got much interest from the opposite sex unless it was to tease her. She thinks Harrec is being facetious when he extols her virtues. He’s constantly flirting and making comments about her size and looks, all of which she thinks are meant to embarrass her. Harrec has no idea that he is offending Kate and loves to see her blush so he keeps flirting.

Once Kate and Harrec are alone, things get really good. She starts to understand that he’s in no way mean and he starts to understand she has self-esteem issues that cause his teasing to hurt her. They both vow to do better with one another, and their chemistry shines through once they do.

These two work so well together. They don’t resonate immediately like some of the other couples and the way that is handled is interesting. I love how the author finds ways to change things up a bit once in a while when it comes to how these couple come together.

I enjoyed this book. The characters were sweet. The banter between Harrec and Kate is really cute and funny. I loved how Kate helps Harrec whwn she found out he's squeamish when it comes to seeing his own blood. And the backstory on where his fear stems from is sad and terrifying. The way his parents died is just gruesome and the fact that Harrec had to see it as a kid is just horrible. I'm really happy that he has Kate to help him through it. The ending with summer and Warrek has me wanting to know what happens next. I feel something bad is coming and hope nothing too serious happens to anyone of the characters. I'm definitely excited to continue onto the next book.
