This is the first volume we get a glimpse of Rin and how Hatsuharu has feelings for her, albeit it's a very brief glimpse of Rin that we get.

We meet Ritsu and I love how Tohru's compassion is able to calm them down to the point that they're wanting to meet someone to eat takoyaki with. As the series progresses, we see just how Tohru's kindness affects the Sohmas and how she is able to help them become happier with themselves just by being herself.

This volume was pretty boring ngl. The interesting parts that gave some characters backstory were really short yet the new character (forgot his name) was given way too much attention imo. He's kind of annoying.
Also I'm super confused about some things now? I thought Haru had a crush on Yuki but now suddenly he was in a relationship with Rin? Plus Rin looks way too old for him. Wasn't Haru like 15? She looks way older but idk the anime style has always made it harder to figure out ages haha
(How old is Shigure anyways? Mid-thirties? I guess I'll have to look at fanwikis to find out :')

This series took a while to get started, but it has some really great characters, storylines and pacing. The author takes his time to introduce the characters. Though I still sometimes get the feeling that Toru is too perfect.

I have read the cute, heartbreaking story of Fruits Basket years ago. And I read it about 3 or 4 times, maybe more. The story is a bit cliche, but the characters are memorable.

A story about closed off loners that broken, depressed and sad individuals hoping for a happiness they could never achieve. Each characters deals with the pain and loneliness differently, learning how to embrace happiness and bloom into individuals they never thought they could be.

Its beautifully written, heartwarming, with relatable emotions anyone can feel. This is one any manga avid reader should go through at least once. A classic that should honestly be recommend by anyone.

Do I recommend it:

I believe volume 8 is the last volume of the manga that contains material that was included in the anime.
SpoilerI really thought the little romantic interaction between Ritsu Sohma and the editor was cute though!

- I've stopped reading the author's notes. They are just a distraction and slow down my reading.

- Ritchan is SO dramatic, and I totally thought it was a girl! He was also super depressing! Jeez!

- Ritchan + Shigure's editor = crazy annoying spazes!

- I thought Haru was gay? Apparently not! Maybe he is bi?

- I'm dying to know more about Yuki's past!! We only get snippets and hints! I want more!

- This issue ended with a bit of a mystery! Ooooooooooooo!
