I sat on this for 24 hours before writing the review. I don't have a lot of triggers, I can process things like a healthy adult, however this did bring up a lot of stuff. So to write a fair review I had to give my head some space.

Growing up with Kya was a beautiful and sad journey all at the same time. She was so strong and overcame everything thrown at her but you couldn't help but think that she shouldn't have those things thrown at her to begin with.

Honestly the ending wrecked me. Because while I fully expected it, I didn't want to believe it.
I wanted to hold on to Kyas innocence.

This book will take you on an emotional roller coaster. If you can handle the content, I strongly recommend this read.

The characters felt like they could do with greater nuance. I enjoyed the twist and mystery throughout the book, watching the alternate timelines collide to reach the present day. The friendship and romance between Tate and Kya was really sweet and perhaps my favourite thing about the book.

🎯 The unexpected ending and the tension throughout the book.
🎯 The friendship between Kaya and Jumper, Tate and Kya were wholesome.
🤔 The part about Kya's growing up years were too long.
🤔 I could see how the lack of explanation regarding the ending could leave readers dissatisfied.

I really enjoyed the mystery components of the plot (and also the final twist at the end!) The characters were all well fleshed out. Generally I don't love books that switch between perspectives but I thought the author did it in a good way without making the storyline too confusing

It is a wonderful book. I would go to bed early just so I could read it. Best recommendation I have received in a long time.

The first half was pretty slow going and I wasn’t as interested. But then the last half kept my attention and I started to connect to the MC. She was a strong FMC who survived on her own even though she was abandoned and isolated.

I liked the scenes with her lawyer, Tom. And her small circle of family she developed by the end. The ending of the book was pretty good.

This is a beautiful book. I have never seen the movie but I heard it was amazing so I head this book and I’m so glad. It’s interesting, emotional, and there’s a satisfying (but predictable in my case)twist at the end. If my mom was alive I would be sending her this book to read. She would have loved it.
That mf Chase Andrew’s deserved it.

I really love this book. The setting was excellent and beautiful, the mfc was relatable and realistic, pacing was great, plot twists were incredible.

One this I absolutely hated was that the main love interest (Tate) was pedophilic. We only see it (in my opinion) in his age difference, the conversation he has with his father where he talks about how he is specifically attracted to her innocence and purity, and some controlling behaviors when it comes to her other relationship.  She has a history of being abused and from the outside does seem very uninformed and potentially easy to manipulate. Together these redflags were screaming at me the rest of the book as her relationship with Tate develops. This made his character unrealistic to me as I could not understand why a man who was so attracted to her innocence and controlling of her external relationships could partner with a girl that he did not think could or would protect herself without exhibiting other serious forms of control and abuse.

Finally, the black character in this book absolutely fit into the traditional architype of "only exist to help the white protagonist". The do not have their own plots, beliefs, or goals outside of helping the main character.

I finally read this book! It took me forever because I wanted to absorb it all. I didn’t want it to end. I haven’t read a lot of mystery books, but I loved this one. It was so beautiful, sad, mysterious, and so much more. I loved it and would read again. There are some scary parts I didn’t love, but it makes sense to the story.
