I’m obsessed with this book! I picked it up blind and didn’t know what I was getting in to at all, but once I was about a third of the way through I couldn’t get enough!
THANK GOD Kya and Tate got together in the end, I would have been very mentally unwell if they didn’t. Also the bomb at the very end of Kya as Amanda Hamilton and the evidence of her killing Chase??? INSANE!
I usually don’t love books written in third person but I loved this once and I think it was necessary in order to include so many different perspectives (mainly Tate’s). 5 stars for sure!

Loved the movie and finally read the book (better than the movie of course)
Beautifully written, good storyline, real characters, full on emotions and wisdom

The best part of the story is hearing about Kya's collection of specimens from the marsh.  I also appreciated that the book's ending was far more surprising than the movie depicted.

Super tragic backstory that makes you fall in love with the main character. So many plot twists at the end; I could not take my eyes off of this book! 10/10 would recommend for people over the age of 15.

I liked the book. It was right up my alley—coming of age, abandoned outcast girl one with nature from a broken home. The book was more evidence about how alcohol ruins people (140, wide print version). Made me cry numerous times. For those who liked this book too, I recommend “Mij’s Testament: Ailand” by Gail O. Dellslee.

Favorite quote:
“Imagination grows in the loneliest of soils” (41).

This is such a beautifully written book that I can’t recommend enough. I was completely hooked by the story and suspense that I couldn’t put it down and I was constantly thinking about this book when I wasn’t reading it. The ending is perfectly designed in my opinion and it brought me to tears in the best way. Everyone should read this book.
