This is definitely an experimental collection. Many stories are told in pictures only. Some are vintage clothing listings! My favorite was the story of "Blue Byron."

As a printmaker, historian, and bookseller, this book brought together everything I enjoy and adore and fit inside the binding of a book. This work flows like a museum and is curated so carefully with its stories that it performs for itself. An enchanting read!

I found the unique method Shapton used to tell these stories completely fascinating, and largely effective. That being said, there were a number of stories I simply couldn't understand or were bored with, leading to a lower rating on this one. Still an interesting read, though.
