Two. Big. Dumb. Stupid. Idiots. Who. Don’t Communicate.

The miscommunication trope but make it the plot, characters and setting as well.

Funnily enough, it actually worked for me. Maybe I related to Felix a bit too much…

I lived for the constant drama of this book. First of all, they could’ve been together from their first date if Marshall was like, “Hey, I don’t want to hook up because I need an emotional connection first,” so Felix could’ve been like, “Oh, that totally makes sense. I’ll stop throwing myself at you then.” But I guess the book would’ve only been like 10 pages at that point so the writers went with a different direction.

I really loved both characters though. Big, sweet, cuddly Marshall and tiny, spitfire Felix who were both just meat suits containing crippling self doubt and insecurity. The sex fiend and the asexual, the perfect pair. No but I did actually enjoy the back and forth. I liked how they both kind of brought out and saw the worst in each other in the beginning so that by the end they truly loved all parts of one another.

The big love declaration was…a lot. It was a big mess which was fitting because that was their whole relationship, but the singing part gAVE ME THE ICK. Nothing is worse than being serenaded. Public speeches and poems are a close second but if anyone ever tried to sing to me I would change my name and move to another state. I had to skip that part of the audiobook. I am not God’s strongest soldier.

Small shout-outs to Charlie and Liam, precious babies. And Talon and Miller mentioned! I am stumbling my way through this series just as chaotically as the Sadenverse, so who knows which book will be next. It’s whatever audiobook is available at my library.

Felix and Marshall were so sweet. These two men had so many miscommunications and misunderstandings that when they finally figured themselves out, it was so sweet. I loved the characters and the references to Saxon's other series. Definitely light and fun!

2.5⭐️ This book cements the reason why I really dislike the miscommunication trope.

Other than the last thirty pages being kind of sweet, their relationship was so toxic. Felix is so fucking insecure and refuses to work on himself. He gets offended if someone breathes to loud and whines so much. Marshall is a saint to deal with him. I completely understand what it’s like to have insecurities, especially around topics as sensitive sex, but he didn’t even try to communicate his issues and just expected everyone to think exactly what he was thinking. I love Saxon James so much, but I can’t do the miscommunication trope anymore girl 😭
