It’s cute. It’s nice to see a focus on valuing yourself, on prioritizing your relationship, on making it work because you like someone.

Another cute Saxon James book :) I enjoyed Felix and Marshall's dynamic, & it was great to get to know Felix better after reading The Platonic Rulebook (which is about Felix's dad, Griff). Also, Griff and Heath make an appearance in this book, which was *chef's kiss*.

A note: I read this book first out of the FUK books and wasn't confused about any characters or the world.

I adore these two so much!

Felix and Marshall are both looking for the one but Felix believes everyone just sees him as a good time and Marshall is unpractised in dating. They are set up on a blind date which goes terribly only to discover the next day they are going to be roommates.

Felix and Marshall are cute! I loved their connection and watching them fall in love as friends. I loved the fact they were each other's perfect opposites; Felix with his sass and need for attention, and Marshall with his laid back attitude and willingness to give Felix all he wants.

I loved that there was more rep in this book with Marshall being demisexual. It was nice to see a relationship not founded on sexual desire but the person themself.

The cameos from Saxon's other books made me happy. I love Heath and Griff, and Brandon and Robbie and enjoyed revisiting them. I also loved seeing Brady from Eden Finley's book as I loved his Dads' story.

3.5 stars.

this had a lot of potential but there were some things that i didn’t like.

i want to start with the things that i loved: felix is a wonderful character and i would absolutely take a bullet for marshall.

minor spoilers ahead.

we meet marshall as a fumbling mess and that would have been so fun to explore more. the blushing virgin/experienced flirty trope is amazing and i wish saxon didn’t discard it so soon.

i didn’t mind the miscommunication at first but after a while it got a bit frustrating.

and i actually wish marshall didn’t “gave up” his virginity so easily. i’m all for doing whatever the hell you want. but he choose to stay a virgin for so long because he couldn’t find the sexual connection with anyone and it was just anticlimactic when he had sex with felix. i wish that they had to fight for their first time.

that being said, the story as a whole works. i loved the characters, but story wise this could have been so much better.

Damn this was a huge let down, the idea was great but the execution, yeah… pretty bad. I don’t completely hate the miscommunication trope but wtf it happened all throughout the book. Fuckers learned to communicate at the 95% mark.

I don’t know what happened here, I was just annoyed the whole time while reading it. Thank god it wasn’t that long. I think it was just flat, the characters weren’t memorable and they drove me mad with their damned assumptions.

The pros: some funny scenes and seeing Robbie and Brando again. The entire story is forgettable, in a week I doubt I’ll even remember I read this. I’m so disappointed :(

DNF 14%. I couldn't finish this book as Felix, one of the leads, was just a terrible character. Majorly selfish and mean and I could not get on board with him. I didn't want him to overcome his terrible personality and I definitely thought Marshall deserved better than someone who was horrible to them from the very beginning of their 'relationship'.
